Adult Sailing Courses

Through an enjoyable mixture of practical on-water exercises, simulator rehearsal and informal presentation of theory topics, our dinghy sailing courses from the RYA National Sailing Scheme, together with our three types of coaching, aim to introduce new skills and ideas and to develop and expand confidence and abilities afloat.

Beginner Courses

To hire a boat and sail confidently, beginners need RYA Levels 1 & 2, choosing either single-handers (1-person boats with more helming time) or double-handers (2/3 person boats with more stability). RYA Level 3 further develops confidence and technique.

Advanced Modules

Participants on these courses should be competent to a minimum of RYA Level 2 standard, ideally RYA Level 3. Only those who have sailed recently and have solid Level 2/3 skills in the type of boat they will be using should book on these courses.

Coaching

Several types of coaching are available outside of our programmed RYA courses to include Group Sail Coaching, Personal Tuition & Group Tuition.

The dinghies used will be from our modern fleet of single-handers: Laser Pico, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, Laser Standard; double-handers: Laser 2000, Laser Bahia, Laser Stratos, Laser Vago, Xenon; catamarans: Dart 16. They will be selected and set up according to the requirements of the course and the conditions on the day. As below, beginners choose to learn in either single-handers or double-handers and conversion from one type of boat to the other can be arranged later, within a Group Sail Coaching session following the RYA Level 2 course.

Please note that 'RYA Level 3: Better Sailing' has been introduced for the first time in 2010. This course is strongly recommended for those who have RYA Level 2 and are looking to progress towards the RYA Advanced Modules.

Courses are assessed on a continual basis and, whilst every effort will be put into helping an individual to pass, a further plan of action may be given by the instructor in order to work towards the certificate.

We may be able to offer extra courses on demand. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
