Youth Training
Queen Mary Sailsports is a large, professionally run, Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training Centre specialising in the delivery of courses to children. Our range of youth courses (weekends or school holiday weeks) are designed to be fun, active and educational and, through an enjoyable mixture of practical on-water exercises, games and informal presentation of theory topics, our RYA qualified instructors aim to develop the sailing, windsurfing and personal skills of the individuals.

Children's Parties
Dinghy sailing, windsurfing or kayaking for birthdays or other special occasions. Two hours of energetic fun afloat for any number of children aged 8-15 (windsurfing 10-15). This is a great way to treat a child on their birthday or for any reason at all!
Club Member Groups
Enjoyable sessions to help our younger Club Members to move forward. With RYA Stage 3 (sailing) or RYA Stage 2 (windsurfing) your child can join our small army of youngsters for regular time afloat, gaining confidence & making friends along the way.
All of our youth courses are designed to be fun, active and educational and, through an enjoyable mixture of practical on-water exercises, games and informal presentation of theory topics, our qualified instructors aim to develop the sailing, windsurfing and personal skills of the individuals. The instructors working with children have to apply for a CRB Enhanced Disclosure and are sensitive to the specific needs of young people afloat.
RYA courses are assessed informally on a continual basis and, whilst every effort will be put into helping children to pass, they may be given a further plan of action by the instructor in order to continue to work towards the certificate.
We offer 5-day (Monday to Friday) 'Holiday Weeks' courses at the following times: Easter, May half-term, July & August and October half-term. We also offer 'Weekends' courses over 6 weeks during April/May, June/July and September/October. Children's parties and Club Member sailing and windsurfing are also available. Please see our Training & Activity Programme for course dates and a flowchart showing the progression through our dinghy sailing courses.
Even though it is safe to expect many other young people on these courses, with a lively atmosphere, group sizes remain small to allow for the instructor to give the right amount of personal attention to individuals within a group. Alternatively, personal tuition on a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio or bespoke group tuition can be arranged. Please see our Coaching sections under Sailing or Windsurfing for more details or call us to discuss on 01784 248881.
