Queen Mary Sailing Club

One of the premier inland dinghy and windsurfing racing clubs, Queen Mary's large sailing water is ideal for racing or just having fun.

The reservoir is man-made and so the surface is 45ft above the surrounding countryside giving good unobstructed wind over the 700 acres.

There is a large clubhouse with changing rooms, hot showers, wet bar, lounge, bar and restaurant. Our caterers, Sarah and her team from Myers catering offer a wide range of delicious freshly cooked food all day Saturday and Sunday.

There are two boat hoists and a drag winch to help members launch and recover their boats.

The club is professionally staffed with safety at all times that the water is open, and our staff will be delighted to show you around the club and explain membership options to you. You will not be expected to do duties in the galley and in the safety boats as this is all done professionally, but there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in club life.

As a member you can sail whenever the club is open, store your boat or board in the boat park, use the club house facilities at any time, and attend club social events. There are also club member discounts on out training centre courses and boat hire.

Day Sailing

You can bring your own boat or board and sail at Queen Mary whenever the club is open by paying a day sailing fee in the office.

 Day Sailing Costs
Monday to Friday£12
Weekends and Bank Holidays£16
*** Please check for current opening hours

Fleets

The main fleets at the club are:

  • Laser
  • RS400
  • RS700
  • Laser 2000
  • Laser 3000
  • Asymmetric
  • Boards

  • Flying Fifteen

If you are interested in a particular fleet the secretarial staff will arrange for you to talk to the fleet captain about their fleet and introduce you to some of the fleet members. A number of other boats race in our handicap fleets so if your boat is not in the list don't worry we can still offer you good racing!

The clubhouse is available for hire during the week for daytime meetings and at weekends for evening functions. Please call 01784 248881 to discuss your requirements.
