QM Select

QM Select is a fantastic package for adults enabling the individual to sail dinghies and/or windsurf kit whenever the club is open, 12 months a year, and to receive free tuition.

QM Select gives access to the latest dinghy and windsurf kit without the considerations of ownership (outlay, depreciation, maintenance, storage, insurance and owning limited types of kit). The range of equipment is impressive and the savings to be gained on paying for courses and hire separately are substantial.

QM Select is like a gym membership in that there is an initial one-off joining fee plus monthly payments. QM Select members can take part in Club Racing, bring guests and participate in courses. A high level of service ensures you get the right training to rig the kit and, should you require it, help to launch it. Practical and friendly advice is readily available.

Equipment

The current fleet of dinghies includes 63 boats from Laser: Laser Pico, Laser Standard XD, Laser Radial XD, Laser 2000, Laser Bahia, Laser Stratos, Laser Vago and Dart 16 catamaran as well as two Wayfarers.

For windsurfing, the selection of 24 boards includes Starboard (all 2008 models unless otherwise stated) EVO 80, Kombat 96, Flare 104 (2006), Futura 111, Futura 122, Futura 133, Futura 144, GO 155, GO 170 (2007) and Rio M 195. 15 Hifly Primo, Motion and Mambo boards are also available. 2008 Rigs are 24 Gaastra Pilot, Matrix & Swift with sizes from 4.0m to 9.0m. 20 Hifly beginner rigs are also available.

Starboard & Gaastra windsurf kit is renewed annually and dinghies & Hifly windsurf kit every 2-4 years so a high standard is maintained. Use of wetsuits, buoyancy aids, harnesses, masthead floats and helmets is included.

Tuition

With QM Select the progression of skills is a priority. Hence all appropriate courses, relative to the level of the individual, are included without charge. See our 2008 Training Programme (available by clicking this link or by requesting a hard copy, 01784 248881 or email sailondon@queenmary.org.uk) for full course details. Personal tuition is a great way to give your skills and confidence a boost from time to time and 1:1 lessons are available to QM Select Members at significantly reduced rates.

Club Racing

With QM Select (Dinghy), participation in Club Racing is possible in our boats to those who have achieved the appropriate level of ability. Club Racing takes place every Sunday morning, on Bank Holidays and on Wednesday evenings from April - September.

Costs and Contact Details

The cost for one discipline is a one-off joining fee of £229 plus £68 per month, with a 12 month minimum commitment. For other rates please see the QM Select Rates (available by clicking this link or by requesting a hard copy, 01784 248881 or email sailondon@queenmary.org.uk).
