Club Members Youth Group

Group meets at 2.00pm on Sunday's throughout the season. The group is aimed at introducing young people to the fun of dinghy racing and many youth group members also sail on a Sunday morning with the Club race. Membership of the Youth Group is free if you own your own boat, but there are a small number of club boats for use of members for a small fee. Further details can be found on the club training brochure.

The higher skilled sailors are invited to join the QM Youth Squad. The Squad has a special programme of events and coaching and sail throughout the year.

The group is run by volunteers headed by Tony Foster and those wanting more information or to assist the group should contact him or the club office.

Events

The Youth Group holds an Open Youth Regatta every year. This is open to all individual youth sailors, it is also open to school teams who can compete for the Thames Water Schools Trophy. We also participate in the Surrey Schools Sailing Association Regattas which are held at various locations throughout the year.

As they improve Youth Group sailors are encouraged to attend the RYA youth classes open training events. And also to take part in the RYA Zone Championship held usually in the Autumn each year. From this they can move on to be part of the RYA Zone squads.

Team 15 Windsurfing

www.team15.org.uk Upwards and for those racers amongst you, we also have a race team - Queen Mary's Team15 Skimmers who are the current South Zone champions. You too can be part of the winning team, competing against other local teams throughout the season - all that is needed is the desire to join in and have some fun windsurfing. We also hold some cool freestyle and other sessions throughout the season. Please phone the office to book onto the session this season.
The group meets at 10am on Saturday mornings and you need to have your RYA Level 1 to join the group - otherwise you can take a course to get you up to speed first.
The season starts again on Saturday 29th April 2006!!! Phone now to book your place.
