Select Membership

Queen Mary offers a unique pay and play membership providing access to a wide range of sailing, windsurfing and keelboat equipment, so you can get on the water without the time and costs involved in owning your own kit. We call it Select!

• £80 per month to Select One Activity (Sailing, Windsurfing or Keelboat)
• £100 per month for Select Multi Sport (Sailing, Windsurfing and Keelboat)

Upon completing RYA level 1, or RYA Start Windsurfing, you're are invited to join - with the joining fee waived if starting at the end of a course held at Queen Mary. Select Membership includes the RYA Level 2 training (for Sailing and Keelboat) giving you the basic skills to get on the water. Membership also includes regular programme of Adult Group Coaching to develop your skills. 

Membership grants you access to equipment, a 20% discount on courses and club activities, access to wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets, and support and advice from our expert team. As a member you can take part in Club Racing, join Saturday Club, take part in club events and activities. 

There are further savings for those under 30 yrs, a youth select membership for those under 16 and all agreements subject to a 12 months contract. 

Additionally Queen Mary offers adult training packages, for each activity, to complete further RYA training, an affordable way to develop your skills and sailing knowledge, please see us for more information on this. For multi-sport a skill level is required to start, you may need to complete training or a competency course first. 

• £40 per month - Sailing Training 
• £30 per month - Keelboating Training 
• £20 per month - Windsurfing Training 

Note - After completing RYA Level 1 or Start Windsurfing the training the package can be activated. subject to 12 month contract.

Select memberships are a minimum 12 month commitment with a joining fee of £295, joining fee is waivered when signing up on level 1 course and Select membership includes RYA Level 2.

Each year we renew a number of our dinghies which brings around 10 new boats into the fleet annually. The current fleet consists of:

Please Note: Standard Members are welcome to try out a boat once for free. Please contact the QM Office if this applies to you.

BOOKING EQUIPMENT

QM Select members are able to reserve equipment up to a week in advance. Bookings are preferred to enable us to anticipate arrivals yet are not mandatory. Continuation of sailing after the booked period is welcomed, subject to availability.

RIGGING

Assistance with rigging and launching is always available, with dedicated staff at weekends.  QM Select members are encouraged to learn how the range of equipment is rigged, launched and stored.

TRAINING

From beginners upwards, skills and confidence afloat can be improved through training and we have a full range of RYA courses which are included free of charge. Group Sail or Windsurf Coaching sessions are included once per month for those who have achieved RYA Level 2 or RYA Start Windsurfing as preparation for further courses. PERSONAL TUITION

1:1 tuition is a great way to give skills and confidence a boost, with sessions available to QM Select members at reduced rates.

CLUB RACING

Sailing QM Select members holding the RYA Start Racing certificate or with equivalent experience are welcome to participate in Club Racing. This takes place on Sunday mornings all year round, on Bank Holidays and on Wednesday evenings from April to September.

OPENING TIMES

Sailing and windsurfing with safety cover is available 7 days a week from April to September and Wednesday-Sunday from October to March. Plenty of evening sailing is available when the wind is up. Full details of opening hours are on our website.

CREWING

A guest can be invited to crew for a QM Select member in a double-handed dinghy 6 times per year free of charge with subsequent visits costing £10. Under 16s may crew for free. Club members may helm (with the appropriate experience) or crew with a QM Select member for free.

EQUIPMENT AND THIRD PARTY COVER

Monthly fees include damage-waiver cover for accidental damage to equipment (no excess) plus third party liability cover (£200 excess).
