National Windsurfing Week (NWW) runs this year from 1-8 May and QMSC Members can get involved in several ways:
Sunday 1 May
On this day, between 1100 and 1300 we want to get as many QM windsurfers as possible afloat. This can be to start your season, to see friends you have not seen for a while or to make new ones. We will have a BBQ at 1300. Windsurfing is all about enjoyable and intense personal experiences alongside meeting other people who are experiencing the very same thing. You may want to just sail around or you may like to join in with setting yourself a personal ‘Sunrise to Sunset' challenge to raise money for the charity ‘Windsurfing for Cancer Research (W4CR)' which is closely linked to NWW. The challenge could be:
Windsurf for 1 or even 2 hours without stopping
- Complete 30,50,100,200 tacks
- Complete 10 gybes without falling in
- Nail a new freestyle move
- Windsurfing in fancy-dress
- Anything at all that you wish
Our Team 15 young windsurfers will be getting involved. The ‘David Tuttlebee Memorial Trophy' for W4CR will be awarded to the Team15 Club which gives the most commitment to raising money in this ‘Sunrise to Sunset' challenge. Monday 2 May – Saturday 7 May
We would love to hear from anyone you know who would like to try/get back into/improve their windsurfing as an individual or group. We will pleased to offer such sessions at 20% off our regular rates on these days. Why not arrange a team-building day for you and your work colleagues? We can offer tailor-made sessions to include any level of catering and could even offer windsurfing plus a second activity from sailing, raft-building or kayaking.
Sunday 8 May
We will be repeating last year’s popular ‘Windsurf for £1’ sessions. Friends and family of Club Members, who are new to windsurfing, can participate in a 2-hour session to try windsurfing. Session times are 1000-1200, 1300-1500, 1530-1730 and cost just £1! Participants must book in advance by calling the office and must commit to coming on the day to avoid any wastage of places. Each slot will have a maximum of 12 places.
