A very Happy New Year to everyone. The weather is fair, the wind looks good and even the water level has come up some way - so it's time for Saturday Club to get going again!
Our first meeting of 2018 will be this coming Saturday 13th January. During the winter months we've planned to meet monthly with further provisional meets on 10th February and 10th March. However, we will keep a close eye on the weather forecasts and, if the weather is looking unsuitable a few days before those dates, we will postpone the monthly meet to a later Saturday in the month. Also, if there is sufficient interest and the weather looks particularly good for other winter Saturdays, we might even throw in one or two extra Saturday Club meets. So keep an eye out for the e-mails - the plan is to get you out on the water on the best of this winter's Saturdays!
As in previous years, the winter Saturday Clubs all operate on a simple turn up and sail basis. We will meet up at the usual marked table in the Club House at 9.45am, sort out boats, helms and crews and all who want to can go sailing - no themes, no organised race starting from a power boat - just get out on the water and enjoy the sailing in good company. If you don't want to sail at this time of year but just want to keep in touch with everyone, that's fine too - just turn up at 9.45am and enjoy some sailing chat over a coffee or two, or come along and join us for lunch after sailing at around 1.00pm.
At the moment, the forecast for Saturday is 10 knts gusting 17 from the southeast, cloudy with an air temperature of 6c, but no rain forecast - great conditions for a first sail of 2018 as long as you're wearing the right kit to keep you warm.
Hope to see many of you there!
