So you’re moored on a busy pontoon with boats either side of you and the wind blowing across the pontoon - how are you going to get away? The answer - sail backwards!
The wind is forecast to be quite light on Saturday 16/Nov morning so, to practice this important technique and spice up the friendly racing a bit, I thought we’d get you to sail one leg of each race backwards.
Meet for coffee from 9.45am at the marked table in the Club House to sort out boat and crew allocations and a quick chat about how to do it.
Then it’s out on the water and those who want to can give it a go. There will be a triangular course to sail/race round, but if you don’t want to sail backwards or race, there’s no pressure to join in - just come and enjoy some social sailing anyway. Back ashore for lunch around 1.00pm for those who can stay.
Select Members please call the office to book a boat in advance if you can but, if you don’t manage that or are told none are available, come along anyway - we’ve never failed yet to get everyone afloat. Do remember to bring your winter sailing kit - it should be fine weather but looks like being a bit chilly.
We’re currently sorting out dates for winter sessions for Saturday Club and looking for volunteers to help organise them. If you think you can help please let Andrew Craig or I know - we will always make sure there are two organisers (the other usually being one of us or someone else who has done it before) allocated to each date, so you won’t have to do it alone.
Hope to see many of you there for another fun Saturday morning.
