Wednesday September 7th saw the 23rd and final race in the Wednesday evening series with 3 dinghies in contention for the overall prize. Tim in his D-One was up against Howard and Louise (holders for the last 2 years) in the RS 400 and Andrew and Jill in the Cherub. All 3 turned up to race and after Tim capsized in the first lap of the 2 lap race, the series prize could have been anyones.
In the end Tim took the series with 1 point advantage over Howard and Louise, followed by Andrew and Jill in the Cherub, James and Izzy in the RS400 and finally Paul and Jackie also in the 400. Additional prizes went to Liam as the best placed junior outside the main prizes and Lucy as the best placed lady helm.
A record 148 entries took part in the series and Commodore Andrew Craig recognised some of the other achievements over the summer. Vicki and Jenny were presented with Heinz (57 varieties) ketchup for sailing the greatest variety of boats, and Simon and Zoe received a tin of Red Bull each for sailing the most number of races in the series. "Clarkie" and the team of regular safety crews were thanked for their stirling effort over the series and the Race Officers and Rules Advisors were presented with a box of Heroes chocolates
