Windsurfing
Through an enjoyable mixture of practical on-water exercises, simulator rehearsal and informal presentation of theory topics, our windsurfing courses from the RYA National Windsurfing Scheme, together with our 3 types of coaching, aim to introduce new skills and ideas and to develop and expand confidence and abilities afloat. The RYA Fastfwd Formula 'Vision', 'Trim', 'Balance', 'Power', 'Stance' is used on all courses above RYA Start Windsurfing.
Two ranges of equipment are available. For beginners and basic level intermediates: Hifly Primo, Motion, Mambo with soft, trainer rigs. For those progressing through the intermediate and advanced skills: Starboard RIO M, GO 175 & 155, Futura 144, 133, 122 & 111, Kode 112 & 103, Kombat 96, Evo 80, Gemini (tandem) with Tushingham Rock 4.0, Storm 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0 & 6.5, TBird & T4 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5 & 8.5, Lightning 8.5 all set on a minimum of 45% carbon masts.
Equipment will be selected and set up according to the requirements of the course and the conditions on the day.
A place on any course above RYA Start Windsurfing requires that you have windsurfed recently. Additionally, a place on the RYA Intermediate course requires that you have have solid RYA Start Windsurfing skills; a place on the RYA Beachstart & Gybe course requires that you have attended, or are at the level of, the RYA Intermediate course; a place on the RYA Advanced course requires that you have solid RYA Intermediate Planing windsurfing skills (ie. planing in the footstraps and harness but not necessarily blasting at full speed in high winds).
Courses are assessed on a continual basis and, whilst every effort will be put into helping an individual to pass, a further plan of action may be given by the instructor in order to work towards the certificate.
We may be able to offer extra courses on demand. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
