The QM Windsurfing Speed Challenge is on! We are inviting Queen Mary windsurfers of all levels of ability on any type of equipment to strap-on our Garmin Foretrex 401 GPS to record their fastest run. The results can be viewed on our windsurfing pages. All we ask in return for borrowing the GPS unit for up to 1 hour is for a donation of £1 to the RNLI to be dropped into the box in the office and for your result to be recorded when you return the unit.
Follow the link to show QM Sailing Manager Simon Winkley congratualting Club Member Duncan Sanders on the inaugural result when he recorded 22.85 knots on 4 July 2010 (and Duncan making his donation to the RNLI!)
A winner will be awarded a prize and crowned QM Windsurfing Speed Champion on Sunday 19 December 2010 at the Club Christmas lunch. The Challenge will start over on on January 1 to find the 2011 Champion.
So, regardless of whether you have recently learned to windsurf or are a speed expert - and regardless of whether you are using standard equipment or the latest flashy boards and sails - please come forward to take part in the QM Windsurfing Speed Challenge.
