Welcome to Adult Windsurfing Courses

This has been a challenging time as you can appreciate a lot of work has gone in to making the club safe to re-open for visitors and staff. We hope 2021 runs with less disruption and change!

Early Booking Save 10% - (Booking three months in advance)

All our Adult Courses are free if you join our QM Select Membership.

The courses currently running are limited to single hander sailing (Level 1, Level 2 and Start Racing); windsurfing of course is a single hander sport. Group tuition is running for both Sailing and Windsurfing. Our tuition runs at a 6:1 ratio.

Covid Specific Information

Due to the Government restrictions easing on the 19th July 2021 we are able to return to normal operations.

Here are the details of our operational changes:

  • We will be running sessions where students will be in closer contact with each-other.
  • Select members are now expected to fully derig and return any kit they use, including putting on dinghy covers.
  • We will be operating in double handers again. So you must be aware that the participant will be in a boat in close contact with somebody else.
  • Powerboat training will resume usual operation.
  • All courses may involve closer contact between students during activities.

What is staying the same:

  • We will still be asking that you wear a face covering or mask when in the clubhouse.
  • We will still be operating to Government guidance on social distancing.
  • You will need to buzz at the gate to gain access, and please park in the lower car park.
  • You will be given a meeting point for the duration of your course, outside of the clubhouse.
  • Are you fit to visit? Please do not attend if you or anyone in your household are experiencing Covid symptoms or are feeling unwell.
  • Please ensure you have booked your session and check our website for the latest covid guidance

Windsurfing Taster

Our windsurfing taster sessions are for those new to sailing. Before commiting to a full course, give it a try!

RYA Start Windsurfing

The Start Windsurfing course focuses on the RYA Start Windsurfing syllabus from the National Windsurfing Scheme. The course assumes no prior experience of windsurfing. At the end of the weekend you should have an understanding of rigging and launching your kit, sailing upwind, downwind and across the wind, steering, tacking and gybing.

Every other Saturday morning 1000 to 1230. Our group coaching takes your Start Windsurfing Skills up a notch. Try a new board or brush off the cobwebs.

RYA Intermediate Windsurfing

Learn the RYA Fastfwd formula to enable a smooth progression towards planing. Non-planing candidates focus on stance, control, tacking, harness work and kit setup. Planing candidates also focus on footstraps and blasting control. Practice between RYA Start winsurfing and RYA Intermediate Windsurfing is needed.

Dynamic transitions, advanced planing techniques and waterstarts. Carve gybing and other advanced skills such as advanced carving and bump and jump may be taught as part of the course.

RYA Windfoiling: First Flights

TRY WINDFOILING! A place on this course requires that you have windsurfed recently and are fully competent planing in the footstraps and harness. You will first be introduced to the art of foiling in a shorebased environment, and then take your skills to the water for your first flight!
