RS21 Market Research
Queen Mary is proposing to initially acquire two RS 21 keel boats with a view to building the fleet further if there is clear interest in us becoming an inland keel boat centre of excellence close to London. To start with, we are planning to offer keelboat training and options for keelboat membership and hire and are looking for this to appeal to our existing members as well as attracting newcomers to our Club. These activities would be run alongside our existing dinghy and multihull sailing, windsurfing and SUPping and would not impact at all on those existing activities. Keelboat sailing provides a (mostly) “stay-dry” sailing option and we think it has the scope to widen our membership appeal and extend the season through the winter months to a broader range of members.
We would like to hear your’ views about this proposal and specifically whether keel boat sailing is something you would consider taking part in and whether you have family, friends, business colleagues etc who might be interested. Crucially, we also want to get a feel for how much you think we can reasonably charge for keel boating - Keel boats have higher capital and maintenance costs than dinghies/boards and we have to make sure that these costs can be covered by the charges we would make for memberships and hire. Your help, by completing this short survey would be greatly appreciated.
