Steering the Course Festival 2022

World Sailing introduced Steering the Course in 2021 to promote women in sailing and to encourage more women to try out the sport. The festival was a big success and has now been scheduled for May 2022. Queen Mary Sailing Club will be actively supporting the festival with the following activities:

  • Women’s Keelboating Day 21st May 2022: Open to all levels from complete beginner to advanced. A chance to get out keel boating with a like-minded group of people at just £50 per person. Please book below and feel free to invite friends and family along also!
  • Social media takeover: Each day we will be featuring a different woman in sailing from QMSC, look out for this between 20th May and 29th May 2022.
  • Women at the helm: During our regular club race on Sunday 22nd May 2022, there will be a prize for the first woman at the helm. We encourage all members to consider how they could help get more women involved in club race on the day.

QMSC is also running it’s first women’s programme this year. Further information on beginner dinghy courses and group coaching are available on our ‘Women on the Water’ page.
