Youth Race Team

Join our youth Race Team

If you’re ready to get on the start line and set course to become our next Olympian, Race Team is for you! There is much to learn, young Jedi, and each session will, step by step, improve your racing.

The Race Team joins in with our weekly club race with dates from Easter through to Halloween. Dinghies typically used are Toppers and Fevas; all members with their own boat are welcome to use alternative classes such as Laser Radials and 29ers. The season ends with the QM Youth Open.

A typical session will start at 9:30 (rigged and ready) with a briefing. At 10:00 you will head out to the start line for two races back to back. After racing there is a quick meet up at 12:30 (directly after racing) to debrief. In addition to the instructor coaching, some of our experienced club racing members will be dropping in to share their top racing tips.

Race Team sessions will be held on, or around, the first Sunday of every month, running April to November. With both Sunday races counting, this forms a 16 race ‘Youth Race Team Series’ (6 races to qualify) with prizes awarded at the annual Christmas prize giving. This series is new for 2017.

'SCHOOLS OUT' SUMMER SERIES - 9 WEDNESDAY EVENINGS THROUGH JULY AND AUGUST

We are holding a summer series for those of you under 19, so come and join us on Wednesday evenings; rigged for approximately 6.00 pm ready for a quick briefing before the handicap race.  After a quick debrief at the end of racing, stay for dinner at the Clubhouse and compare notes with your fellow competitors!

Note: If you are a member but don’t have a boat, to hire a boat the youth cost for Sunday or Wednesday racing is just £10.
