Youth Race Series (Sailing)
If you’re ready to get on the start line and set course to become our next Olympian, this is for you! There is much to learn, young Jedi, and each session will, step by step, improve your racing.
The Youth Race Series is designed for our youth members who have already had an introduction to racing but would like some tips for how to improve around the race course.
The series joins in with our weekly club race with dates from March through to November. Dinghies typically used are Toppers and Fevas; all members with their own boat are welcome to use alternative classes such as Laser Radials. We will provide a coach to brief you in the morning on what to expect, provide some tips during the race and end the morning with some tips for next time!
A typical session will start at 9:30 (rigged and ready) with a briefing. At 10:00 you will head out to the start line for two races back to back. After racing there is a quick meet up at 12:30 (directly after racing) to debrief. In addition to the instructor coaching, some of our experienced club racing members will be dropping in to share their top racing tips.
Race Team sessions will be held on, or around, the first Sunday of every month, running March to November. This gives you plenty of opportunities to improve your abilities and gain more independence in your racing.
YOUTH SERIES (SUNDAYS)
We hold the Youth Race Series on selected Sundays and Wednesdays throughout the year. With both Sunday races counting, with prizes awarded at the annual Christmas prize giving. Our School's Out Series, on Wednesday evenings will also make a return this year. The way this will operate is similar to the Sunday Race Team sessions, so keep an eye out on this page for more details ...
Your boat should be rigged with you ready to go sailing for a 9:30 start. The session finishes with a de-briefing ending at approximately 12:45 depending on racing conditions.
- Dates TBC
SCHOOL'S OUT SERIES
Wednesday evening racing, followed by dinner in the Clubhouse (if you can stay!). This race series will be weekly, and anyone under 19 is eligible to take part in the series. Boats should be rigged and ready to sail for approximately 6:00 pm, in time for a quick briefing before joining the start of the racing. There will be a quick de-brief after the end of the sessions before dinner is served.
- £5 per session

Note: If you are a member but don’t have your own boat, the youth cost to hire a boat for Sunday racing is just £10 for the morning races.
