Youth Weekend Sailing and Racing
If you've started your sailing journey on our RYA Courses and looking to get committed and sail weekly, then our youth group weekend activities are what your looking for! A great way to meet like minded young sailors, get on the water and have the best time sailing and racing.
This is for you!
Our programme is tailored around different options for children from RYA Stage 2 upwards. It's a great way to get involved with QMSC.
How to get involved
A. Join as a 'Select Youth' member (100% Discount all inclusive)
- This option is for you if you are at RYA Stage 2 or above and want access to all the activities listed below and we'll also include access boats outside of the sessions including Club Racing. A great option to start progressing in either general sailing or racing.

- Have you already got your own boat? You'll want to join us as a standard member, but you can also pay a small premium to get full access to all the below activities - an easy way to make friends and sail with like minded kids.

Aqua Foxes (Sailing Stage 2+)
Aqua Foxes is a fun, social opportunity for those aged 9-15 with RYA Stage 2 or above to get on the water with other young members. Gain confidence on the water & meet other Youth members. Runs from Easter to October Half Term - weekly in term time. Saturday mornings.
Club Race Introductory Coaching
Club Race can be a daunting prospect for people new to the racing scene. Sailors who book onto this session will receive an introductory briefing from one of the Safety Team on objectives for the day’s racing as well as a debrief afterwards with any introductory coaching points noted whilst racing. This session is ideal for those sailors relatively new to club racing who would like some extra guidance in how to progress up the fleet. Free for all members!
QM Race Squad
Join QM's Race Squad! Meeting once every four weeks, this squad will give you extensive race training experience as well as meeting like-minded people. Please come with a boat in mind you would like to use: Topper, Tera, RS Feva or Laser. Squad jackets available. From Easter to October half term, runs once fortnightly in term time. During winter, runs once per month. Please contact the office to discuss suitability for this squad. Join as a youth select member to get it included for free. Options also available for standard members so do get in touch.
Youth Group Goes.....!
Our Youth Group Goes ..... Series this winter will allow you to get out and try all different types of sailing and racing. Our aim is for the following: 03/12/23: Team Racing, 28/01/24: Catamaran/spinnaker sailing, 03/03/24: Keelboating. The activities may change date depending on weather conditions so please be prepared for this. Come and get involved with all of our youth members trying out these great forms of sailing! You must have RYA Stage 3 to take part and appropriate winter clothing (Drysuit or 4-5mm wetsuit).
Youth Group Ospreys (Introduction to Racing)
Get out Racing - A term to help you learn the basics and gain confidence in getting on the start line and enjoying racing. RYA Stage 3 or equivalent is required to attend these sessions. Runs weekly between Easter and October half term on Sunday PM term time. During winter runs once monthly.
Join as a youth select member to get all sessions included - please ring the office for more details.
Aqua Foxes (Social Sailing)
Youth Group Aqua Foxes is a fun, social opportunity for those aged 9-15 with RYA Stage 2 or above to get on the water with other young members throughout the main season on Saturday afternoons. We will develop your sailing skills in a fun and social setting, building a strong community of youth sailors and parents. There will of course be lots of games! Join as a Select member to get it for free! Runs on Saturday mornings This session has combined with Sea Badgers for 2023.
Age: 9-15 years old
Prior experience needed: RYA Stage 2
Ospreys (Start Racing)
Learn to race - A term to help you learn the basics and gain confidence in getting on the start line and enjoying racing. Learn all the techniques needed to start a race and get around the course. Meet like-minded racers and try out various racing boats such as Topper and RS Feva. Join as a Select member to get it for free! Runs on Sunday afternoons (monthly in winter and weekly in summer terms)
Age: 9-15 years old
Prior experience needed: RYA Stage 3
QM Race Squad (Intermediate + Advanced Racing)
Have you been enjoying ospreys and ready to progress? Join QM's Race Squad! Meeting biweekly in summer and monthly in winter for a full day, this squad will give you extensive race training experience as well as meeting like-minded people. Please come with a boat in mind you would like to use: Topper, Tera, RS Feva or ILCA 4. Squad jackets, monthly socials and event support available. Please contact the office to discuss suitability for this squad. Join as a Select member to get it for free!
Age: 9-16
Prior experience needed: Racing experience through club racing or Ospreys and approval by QM Staff
Club Race Introductory Training
Are you part of the QM Race Squad? If so attend our club race introductory training once every 4 weeks, offset from the squad timings. Receive a briefing prior to club race, race and then receive a debrief afterwards. Meet at 09:30 for your briefing prior to club race. Join as a member to get it for free!
Age: 9-16
Prior experience needed: Prior Race Experience and/or member of QM Race Squad.
