Welcome to Wing Festival

Prepare to elevate your weekend plans to new heights as the very first Wing Festival takes flight this Saturday. With over 130 signed up, we couldn't be more excited and its not too late to join in!

Here are the details you'll need for the day:

Event Schedule:

  • Wingfest and Brand Demos: Commence at 10 am and continue until 5 pm.
  • Wingsurf Tasters: Begin at 9:30 am. (Fully Booked).
  • Wingfoiling Sessions: Available starting from 9:15 am. Book your slot here.
  • Wing Daysail: Visiting with your own kit for a Free day sail. Book your space here.
  • BBQ by Claire Cook Surrey: Barbecue starts midday.
  • Group Photo: Be Part of the Group Photo on the Rigging area at approximately 1pm.

Welcome:

Look for our QM Wing Ambassadors stationed by the water’s edge. We can show you where to park, rig your kit, answer questions, link you with the Demo Brands and most importantly make sure you have a Safety Briefing before going on the water. 


Safety Briefing:

  • Before the day - If you plan to enter the water for any activities, please ensure you've thoroughly reviewed the club's safety information available here.
  • On the day - Before you head out on the water, please come and speak to the Welcome team and the Duty Officer for a safety briefing - we are keen to facilitate your enjoyment of your time on the water.

Parking: Parking is on the lower 'ground' level. If you're brining kit please follow signs for drop off on the upper level.

No Dogs: One final thing in the club's Bye Laws - Sadly dogs are not allowed on site, with the exception of assistance dogs.

Everyone Welcome: You don't need a confirmation email to enter the WingFest. Everyone is welcomed to turn up on the day.

Discover WING Session (WING-SURFING)

Start Winging with QM's Discover-Wing Sessions for those over 18. 

These introductory adult sessions offers a foundational understanding of winging, divided into two main segments: Flying the Wing Ashore and Getting Afloat. These sessions focus on mastering the basics of wing control, harnessing its power for forward movement and steering.

Additionally, they reinforce essential skills such as board balance, enabling participants to navigate short distances across the wind, execute gybes, and return to their starting point confidently.

Try Wingfoiling

Early Wingfoiling Sessions with Simon Winkley Marine - These 2¼ hour adult sessions for are designed for either:
  • experiencing wingfoiling for the first time
  • having a follow-on experience from your initial wingfoiling experience
The minimum level required to participate is: ‘able to use a wing to a level of basic competence and stay up wind on a non-foiling board’. We will cover basic foiling technique, aiming to get the board up and out of the water.
There will be 3 people on each session with 2 sets of foiling kit. Participants will rotate between being on a foiling board and being in a powerboat with the instructor. The person resting in the powerboat will be coached by the instructor whilst observing the progress of the others on the foil boards. There will be enough rotations to give everyone a valuable learning experience. In the event of lighter, non-foiling winds on the day, sessions will still run on the larger foiling boards to work on skills such as tacking, gybing, riding switch (toeside) etc.
