CLUB DEVELOPMENT FUND

Queen Mary Sailing Club provides outstanding sailing and windsurfing for the established racer, those new to racing and those who like a more relaxed approach to their leisure.  In addition to activities for our members, our facility is used by local schools.  Our Sailability group provides support for children with special needs and for disabled adults sailing in adapted boats.  The training school enables juniors and adults to start on their sailing career and then join in club social sailing and racing activities.

Our vast elevated area of water provides some of the best inland sailing in the country and we have a vision that its facilities should match our location and be attractive to current and future sailors.  The Club Development Fund accelerates our ability to make the changes we hear our members and visitors would like.

Launching Facilities Improvement Project

 One side ramp2

The current challenges posed by the steep concrete banks at QMSC have made launching an ongoing obstacle for our members. Our objective is to improve the club's launching facilities to ensure accessibility now and for future generations of sailors.

Project Overview:

Our primary focus is to invest in a new launch ramp that will significantly improve the speed and ease of launching by reducing the gradient of the current bank. Additionally, we need to invest in a powerful electric winch to facilitate the launching and recovery of rescue boats, as fluctuations in water levels have rendered our current platform hoists redundant at the lowest levels.

Fundraising Progress:

Our fundraising efforts have already raised £32,600 through outreach to pioneer members. We plan to continue fundraising through special events, sponsorship opportunities and by creating opportunities for both members and the public to contribute. This project represents a significant improvement to the club since the construction of the clubhouse 50 years ago.
