Role Description
An exciting opportunity to manage and lead the RYA Training Centre and all on-the-water activity at Queen Mary Sailing Club, including Club Racing and Open Meetings, General Sailing, Windsurfing, Wing-foiling, Paddle-sports and Keelboating.
We are looking for a leader with strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to inspire and persuade people. The successful candidate will join the office team, contributing to membership, bookings, website, training and club business development — strong administration and IT skills, and an eye for detail, are essential.
The role calls for dinghy racing experience and experience of providing safety cover for dinghy races. This is not a standard Monday–Friday, 9–5 role: hours cover weekends, Bank Holidays, evenings and offset days, and it would not suit someone looking for fixed weekday working.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background delivering sailing and watersports activities, with at least three years' experience as a Principal or Chief Instructor. Ideally, you will have led a medium-sized centre and be looking to move on to greater responsibility and challenge.
Reporting directly to the Club Secretary, and through the Club Secretary to the Commodore and Club Council, this is a great opportunity at one of the leading sailing clubs in the UK.

- RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor
- RYA Start Windsurf Instructor
- RYA Safety Boat
- RYA recognised First Aid
Desirable:
- RYA Racing / Keelboat / Multihull / First Flights / Advanced endorsements
- RYA Windsurf Intermediate (planing) Instructor
- RYA Powerboat Instructor
- RYA Coach Assessor
- BCU Kayak Coach Level 2 or higher
- Current, transferable DBS check
- Stand-up Paddleboard Instructor
