Womens Watersports Open Day
You're Invited
Join us at Queen Mary Sailing Club for our Women’s Watersports Open Day — a relaxed day to get on the water, try something new, or simply come along and see what the club is all about. We’re running half-price taster sessions (£22.50) across sailing, windsurfing and more, with no experience or kit needed.
Racing Afternoon - If you have experience, and if not, why not bring a friend or daughter, try a different watersport, take part in our afternoon “Rock Up & Race” dinghy session. Link below to sign up and link for the special Rock up and Race tasters too.
Even more... join our Saturday keelboat club racing with QMSC members (with the discount available there too).
Try something on the water
We’ll be running taster sessions throughout the day in:
Sessions last around 1.5 hours and are led by experienced instructors. They’re informal and accessible, making it an easy way to try something new or build confidence if you’ve done it before.
All equipment is provided — just bring old trainers or water shoes, something to wear under a wetsuit, and a towel.
Alongside the taster sessions, there’s also:
- Free open day for any sailors, wing-surfers or windsurfers with own kit.
- “Rock Up & Race” dinghy session (2:15 to 4pm) — come and try dinghy racing in a relaxed setting. You can sail with an instructor if you’d like, or go solo if you’re RYA Level 2 or above. No racing experience needed — book below in in the Rock up and Race taster sessions and just come and have a go. (We may add additional sessions depending on interest.) For those with their own kit - Sign up here Rock up and Race - Women's Watersports Day – Fill in form
- Keelboating with club members (for RYA Level 2+ sailors) (half price)
- Free paddleboarding (SUP) available on the day (subject to availability)
- An optional, informal speed challenge

Food and time to relax
A BBQ will be available from 12–2pm (provided by Claire Cooks), with a selection of options available to purchase on the day.
There’s plenty of space around the clubhouse to sit, watch the water, and chat with members — many people come along just to enjoy the atmosphere as much as the activities.
We’ll round things off in the afternoon with tea, biscuits and a relaxed social.
Who it’s for
This is a women-focused day, aimed at making it easy to come along and get involved in watersports.
- Minimum age: 8 (for on-water activities)
- Beginners very welcome
- No previous experience needed for taster sessions
You’re welcome to come on your own, with friends, or come along with someone you know.
Just come along
If you’re not sure about booking, you’re very welcome to come down, have a look around, and get a feel for the club first. There’s no pressure to take part — a lot of people start that way.
