Introduction to Keelboat Racing

QMSC will be running 'Introduction to Keelboat Racing' days designed for anyone with an interest in sailing RS21s racing keelboats.

The session will start with a briefing at 09:30 before heading out on the water, in crews of four, to learn how to rig and sail RS21s. After lunch we hit the racecourse with a series of short races. The day will be lead by race coaches and with an event support team to make it all happen smoothly, drinks in the club and prize giving at 15:30... it's going to be a fantastic day!

Price includes packed lunch on the water and first drink after sailing.

RS21 Race Training

QMSC will be running 'RS21 Race Training' days designed for those who have already attended our 'Introduction to Keelboat Racing' days or have previous keelboat racing experience.

Please come with either a formed team of 3-4 people or with one or two specific roles in mind from the following: main/kite trim, helm and jib trim/pitx2. The aim will be to get you working in a team smoothly with coaching on the specific roles. Led by race coaches, the day will consist of mainly training ending in a race series, followed by a prize giving ashore. Come and get competitive!

A day training to race RS21s - how to rig, set up and sail this new exciting class of boat. Leading into racing with on the water coaching and a series of races.

RS21 Race Training Day

Improve your keelboat racing skills with a morning of training and an afternoon race series. Ideal for those who have already attended our 'Intro to Keelboat Racing' day or have previous keelboat racing experience. Come in teams or with an ideal role in mind e.g. helm.



Keelboat RYA Level 1: Start Sailing

The Keelboat RYA Level 1 - Start Sailing course assumes that the student has not sailed before. After you have learnt to rig the boat and received an introduction to the boat's controls, the group will take to the water to experience for the first time under the close supervision of a qualified RYA keelboat instructor.

Keelboat RYA Level 2: Basic Skills

The Keelboat RYA Level 2 - Basic Skills course assumes that the student has previously achieved the RYA Level 1 - Start Sailing certificate. This course builds on the skills learned, introduces new ones and supports you along the way to becoming an independent sailor.

RS Club 3

Keelboat Conversion

Come and sail in style on our RS21 keelboats, developing your teamwork and communication skills, to endorse your RYA Level 2 certificate with keelboat recognition. This course will also serve as a keelboat orientation day, to show you how they are used here at QMSC.

Prior to attending this course you should have comfortably mastered the skills learnt on the Dinghy Level 2 sailing course.
