Queen Mary Sailing Club
Queen Mary Sailing Club has inspired and enabled the local community to try and enjoy sailing and windsurfing for over 50 years. It is proudly one of the leading inland sailing clubs in the UK.
The club provides opportunities to learn to sail and develop sailing skills at its RYA Recognised Training Centre. You can join as a member with your own sailing kit or use the club’s equipment, with a pay and play membership called Select. There are opportunities to race and take part in competitive sport, or simply to have fun and socialise.
We provide memorable sailing experiences for children and adults with physical, sensory, or learning disabilities through our RYA Sailability programme. In addition, we give over one thousand young people a water sports experience each year through our holiday courses and activity programmes. With 800 members, the club is a valued part of the local community, serving people living in West London.
QM is an RYA Pathway Club, a status that recognises clubs delivering regular, high-quality race training in British Youth Sailing classes. At QMSC, this includes the Topper, Techno, RS Tera, RS Feva, and ILCA classes. The club has supported many sailors who have gone on to represent their country and achieve medal success at both Olympic and Paralympic levels as part of Team GB. Above all, it is the community that benefits most from our facilities, with a wide variety of sailing opportunities available for all abilities, from beginners to national squad sailors.
Club Facilities
Adjacent to the 700-acre reservoir, there is a large clubhouse spanning two floors, with facilities including free wireless internet access throughout.
On the upper deck, there is a large hall with panoramic windows overlooking the water, leading onto a balcony for pleasant summer days. There is also a carpeted lounge area with a widescreen TV. Our caterers, Claire Cooks Surrey, offer a wide range of freshly prepared food all day on Saturdays and Sundays. The upper deck is accessible via a disabled lift.
On the lower deck, there are large ladies’ and men’s changing rooms, along with separate disabled facilities. There is also a baby changing room and lockers for valuables (which take a returnable old £1 coin, or you can use your own padlock).
Outside, we have berths available for dinghies and lockable windsurfing cages for equipment. For keelboat sailors, there are two boat hoists, and for larger dinghies, three drag winches to help members launch and recover their boats.
As a member, you can sail whenever the club is open, store your boat or board in the boat park, use the clubhouse facilities at any time, and attend social events. Members also receive discounts on training centre courses and boat hire.
