RYA Dinghy Pre-Entry Assessment

Timing

This one day assessment runs from 09:30 to 17:00.

Pre-requisites

Before attending this sailing assessment, a pre-requisite to becoming a Dinghy Instructor, you should be confident that you can sail to the standard detailed in the RYA Instructor Handbook (G14) and on their website.

The Assessment

This is an assessment day - the assessment will determine whether you have the required sailing ability to become an instructor. There is little time on the day for training input - you should have recent sailing experience and fully understand what will be required of you on the day.

Candidates will be able to progress onto the RYA Dinghy Instructor course, within a year of successful completion.

What To Bring

We provide wetsuits and buoyancy aids although if you have your own you are welcome to use them.

You should bring: swimwear (to wear under wetsuit), shoes you are happy to get wet, a towel, a change of clothes, suntan cream, a hat, and a water bottle
