RYA Powerboat Level 2
What to Expect on the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course
The RYA Powerboat Level 2 course is a highly practical, hands-on course designed to build confidence from the moment you step on board. Most of your time will be spent on the water, learning by doing, with clear instruction and supportive coaching throughout.
Over the course, you can expect to cover:
- Powerboat handling at slow and high speeds
- Close-quarters manoeuvring and berthing
- Man overboard recovery techniques
- Collision avoidance and basic navigation
- Rules of the road and buoyage
- Emergency procedures and safety awareness
Courses are run in small groups to maximise time at the helm and allow for individual feedback. No previous experience is required, and all training is delivered by fully qualified RYA instructors in a relaxed but professional environment. By the end of the course, most students are confidently driving a powerboat and ready to put their new skills into practice.
