Corporate Keelboat Sailing Experience

Welcome to the keelboat programme at QMSC. Using RS21s we can offer keelboat membership, training courses, racing and corporate sailing experiences. Corporate events are tailored for each company, be it teambuilding for complete beginners to a racing day for experienced sailors, one thing is guaranteed: it will be an event to remember.

Keelboat Team Building Day

An experience for complete beginners - The great thing about keelboats is that they provide a stable platform for sailing without the physical stress of hiking out or crouching down, reducing stress on back, hips and knees. There is more space in the boat to move around and with 3 to 5 people on the boat, the social crewing experience can be far more rewarding. And of course, there is no need to wear a wetsuit as you do not get so wet! Sailing these boats is far more inclusive, but still both physically and mentally challenging, they are a great, fun way to bringing out the best in your people, whatever their age or ability.

A typical day would start with a group introduction where the lead instructor gives an overview of the day. Sailors will then get split into crews of four, get changed in to sailing kit and meet with their keelboat instructor. A safety briefing is next followed by a boat orientation, crews then head out on the water and start sailing! A learn to sail session, where each person gets a chance to steer the boat and trim the sails all under the watchful eye of the instructor. This is followed by lunch. The afternoon session will include some teamwork sailing challenges and a sailing race when all boats will race together to sail around a course. The session ends with much clapping and cheering for the winners of the challenge and spot prizes awarded.

Keelboat Racing Day

For the seasoned keelboat racer. With six equally matched RS21 keelboats, a very large patch of water and a depth of racing and event management, we’re well placed to deliver your corporate racing experience. Keelboat racing goes back decades at QMSC: we host the RYA National Match Racing Finals, British Keelboat League events, British Keelboat Academy training, to name a few. Your racing challenge day may end up being the next annual event on the calendar!

A typical day would run with a safety briefing and boat orientation, then an on water coaching session in the morning, a break for lunch, then a back-to-back races series in the afternoon. The winners will stand proud on the water side podium, fizz the bubbly and take home the prizes!
