Membership Secretary
Queen Mary Sailing Club is seeking a highly organised and personable Membership Secretary to join our team and play a vital role in the Sailing Club. This key role sits at the heart of our club operations and offers the chance to be part of a friendly, vibrant sailing community at one of the UK’s leading sailing clubs.
This position is ideal for a highly organised and personable administrator who enjoys working with people and thrives in a busy, welcoming office environment. As part of the club’s office team you play a key role to ensure the smooth running of the club.
About the Role
As Membership Secretary, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of club membership and will act as a key point of contact for our members. The role involves managing membership processes, onboarding new members, responding to enquiries and collecting membership payments. You will also share reception duties with other team members, supporting course bookings for the Sailing School, the organisation of events, and assisting with general administration, making flexibility and teamwork essential.
- Working Hours: 30 hours per week
- Salary: £22,400 per annum
- Type: Permanent
- Essential Working Day: Saturday
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an enthusiastic, professional, and proactive individual who is committed to delivering excellent customer service. You should have:
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Confidence working with databases and IT systems
- The ability to multitask effectively in a busy office environment
- A friendly and approachable manner
- Experience within a membership organisation or sports club would be an advantage, but it is not essential.

SENIOR INSTRUCTOR
Seasonal (2026) or casual positions available
We are looking for a highly motivated, passionate individual with a real drive for staff mentoring and leadership.
Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
- RYA Senior Instructor with valid FA certificate
Desirable:
- Windsurf/Dinghy Instructor (opposite to SI qualification)
- Multihull/Racing/Advanced/Keelboat Instructor endorsements
- Start/Intermediate/Advanced Windsurf Instructor
- RYA Powerboat Instructor
- Good racing knowledge
- Experience in providing safety cover for racing events
- Gel coat/Fibre glass repair
Duties include:
- Working as part of a team to provide an enjoyable and safe environment for students and members of all ages and abilities
- Delivery of RYA courses within the National & Youth Schemes
- Assisting in ensuring all teaching complies with the RYA curriculum through session evaluations and ongoing observations
- Assisting in maintaining the training fleet
- Assisting in staff development in a mentoring and lead role
- Training volunteers
- Providing on water safety for recreational & racing activities
- Maintenance of kit & grounds
Depending on previous experience and/or qualifications held, there is the potential to take a more prominent lead in various aspects of the centre:
- Youth development
- Powerboat training – staff and volunteer skill development
- Advanced coaching
- Keelboat training
ACTIVITY INSTRUCTOR
Dinghy, Windsurf, or Powerboat
Casual (throughout the year) and seasonal (June-September 2026)
Queen Mary Sailing Club are looking for enthusiastic & passionate Instructors to assist in the delivery of our Training Programme for the coming season.
Qualifications

Minimum of RYA Dinghy and/or Powerboat or Start Windsurf Instructor or Wing Instructor
The main duty will be the delivery of the National & Youth RYA syllabus inline with your qualification and experience. Additional roles include:

in-house training to deliver sit on-top kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and water/land based team building games

Assisting in the safety provisions for Club & Open racing

Maintenance in the training kit
- Launch/Recovery of club members
