Queen Mary Sailing Club is an RYA Pathway Club

What is a Pathway Club?

The RYA is recognising clubs that deliver regular, high-quality race training in British Youth Sailing classes. At QMSC, this includes Topper, Techno, RS Tera, RS Feva and ILCA.

This new approach replaces the previous regional and national squad structure. Instead of progressing from club sailing into RTGs, young sailors will now develop through their club and Class Associations. This gives QMSC the opportunity to build a strong youth racing programme, helping sailors compete at events across the country while representing Queen Mary Sailing Club.

The Pathway

QMSC Pathway Club 2

As an RYA Pathway Club, QMSC benefits from:

  • An RYA Racing Tutor to support pathway development
  • Discounted coach development courses, including the RYA Race Coach Level 2 course for racers and instructors aged 16+
  • Access to RYA coaching resources and advice
  • Selection opportunities for Zone Championships and regional events

The pathway programme focuses on these youth groups:

  • Ospreys (entry level: Stage 3 or equivalent)
  • Race Squad (selected from Ospreys)
  • Windsurf Race Squad (selected by the Chief Windsurf)

To join one of our youth pathways, visit our Junior (8-17) Weekend Sailing & Youth Windsurfing pages.
